Time for a change (once again)

Well I see that it´s one year since I last time changed my life “to better”. Too bad I failed 90% of all my goals. Now I decided to change the language of the blog to english to cater not only finnish but the huuuuge international audience that are interested in a big man´s dream to become a healthy triathlonist.

Few things I wrote last year on 23.10.2018:

– 190 cm
– 29,53 years.
– 122,9 kg (~270lbs)
Have fun with the new bike trainer
Run a half marathon
Run a marathon
Complete a 70.3
Weight < 100 kg ( <220lbs)

So as I said, could have been better. Well something positive happened though:
– managed to complete my first 5150 (Olympic distance) in Kraichgau. Wasn´t pretty due to injuries and low training volumes, but I survived.
– bought a wetsuit and didn´t panic at all in my first open water swims
– swim in Kraichgau went better than expected (1500m in 33:43).
– weight as of this morning 115,1kg (~254lbs)

Hopefully now in the next 12 months I will stay healthy and won´t have injuries. I lost 2 months of training due to broken toe, and maybe another 2 months due to pain in calves. This winter I will try to focus more on swimming and indoor cycling as they are more low impact and will hold the running volumes back a bit before the weight is a bit lower.

Last but not least, writing down goals for the next 12 months and also the plan for races:
– 8.3.2020 Frankfurt Mainova Halbmarathon (21,1)
– 3.5.2020 Fulda Triathlon (0,5 – 20 – 5)
– 24.5.2020 Kinzigman Triathlon (0,5 – 20 – 5)
– 28.6.2020 Heinerman Olympic (1,5 – 46 – 10)
– 2.8.2020 Frankfurt City Triathlon (1,5 – 45 – 10)
– 6.9.2020 Cologne Triathlon Weekend (1,9 – 90 – 21,1)
– 25.10.2020 Frankfurt Marathon (42,2)

Those are the preliminary races that I would like to participate, other options would include HEP Challenge Heilbronn Olympic (21.6.2020) instead of the Heinerman and Challenge Almere-Amsterdam (13.9.2020) instead of the CTW half distance.

Oh and lets write some funny time goals as well so I can get disappointed in 12 months again. In brackets you can find the old best times.

– Half marathon < 2:00 (1:54)
– Marathon < 4:30 (-)
– Sprint < 1:15 (1:26:01)
– Olympic < 3:15 (3:47:42)
– 70.3 < finish (-)
– Weight < 100kg [<220lbs] (103kg 2009 during the Army)

To Infinity and Beyond!
